Google has officially launched [Android 11 Developer Preview](https://developer.android.com/preview/overview.html). [9to5Google](https://9to5google.com/2020/02/19/android-11-developer-preview-launch/) has a good overview. I observe that DP images are available for the Pixel 2, but I am not sure Android 11 will be made available for the Pixel 2. [According to Android Authority](https://www.androidauthority.com/google-pixel-2-xl-update-804779/), the Pixel 2 will get Android 11 in September 2020 but Google will be dropping support for the Pixel 2 in October 2020, but what exactly does that mean?

On March 18, 2020 [Google released the second developer preview](https://techcrunch.com/2020/03/18/google-launches-the-next-android-11-developer-preview/) for Android 11. >New features in the second preview include a 5G state API to see if a user is currently on a 5G network, so that developers can then activate experiences that necessitate a 5G network, for example. There is also now better support for foldable devices with a new API that can read data from a hinge-angle sensor so that apps can, as the name implies, adapt to the angle of the hinge. There also are new APIs for screening robocalls and support for variable refresh rates and more. For developers who use neural networks in their apps, Android 11 will include a new “hard swish-op” function that will enable faster and more accurate training for on-device models.

Today, (June 10, 2020) Google is releasing the Android 11 beta for Pixel phones. It features a revamped notification system, a new power menu, and dozens of smaller tweaks. The Verge
One of the more exciting, if subtle, changes coming with Android 11 is the ability to switch your current media to a new Bluetooth device with ease. 9to5Google
If you use multiple media apps, though, Android 11’s media resumption feature is even more useful than you’d first think. Instead of trading out the card showing media when a new session is started from a different app, the card is added to a carousel. 9to5Google
Though one would expect it to be released with Android 11, Google might be making their equivalent to Apple's Airdrop, which they appear to be calling Nearby Sharing, part of another Pixel feature drop. Several reports appear on June 30, 2020 that Google has launched a tight beta of Nearby Sharing. 9to5Google
As of August 18, 2020 Nearby Sharing has not been airdropped to my Pixel 2.
On August 5, 2020 Google released the third beta of Android 11, which is thought to be the last beta release prior to general availability. As I have done with prior releases, I've installed beta 3 on my Pixel 2.
I've had no problems with running Android 11, on the other hand, I can't report of any feature that really stands out. Seems like lots of little refinements. One change I did notice is that the cellular signal strength indicator on the Pixel 2 re-displays, it stopped working starting in December. I observed the problem was in displaying signal strength for 4G connections.
On September 8, 2020 Google released the first production version of Android 11 to Pixel phones. I have installed in on my Pixel 4a.
