Standard Notes is a plain text note taking tool of which its most compelling feature is that all notes are fully encrypted locally before the are transmitted to the server. Versions of the app are available for all platforms, and there is also a web application.
I've recently started defaulting to using Standard Notes for any text-based notes as that makes them available on all my devices. If there is anything that I want to be sure is secure, I store that in Standard Notes.
I am currently not hosting Standard Notes on my own server and I am not paying for the Extended service. While there appears to be a way to migrate notes from Evernote to Standard Notes, I am opting to not do that and continue using Evernote as a repository.
