Some men when they turn 45 years old have a mid-life crisis and buy a sports car, when I turned 45 I bought the Macbook Air.
At the time I bought what was then the fully loaded version, with 2.13 GHz Dual Core Intel processors, 4 GB of RAM, and a 256 SSD drive. It cost me just a little more than $2k and that makes it the most money I have ever spent on a computer.
My relationship with Macintosh stretches back to when I started college in 1984. The computer lab I worked in had the first Macs and I fell in love but they were way too expensive for a poor college student. For some reason I did not buy a Mac once I had a job, but instead I spent a ton of money on the "new thing" at the time from Apple, a Newton Messagepad.
