Fossil Sport Smartwatch

I bought the [Fossil Sport Smartwatch](https://www.fossil.com/us/en/products/fossil-sport-smartwatch-43mm-black-silicone-sku-ftw4019p.html) when I found out it had gone on sale for $99, which is a $176 price reduction.

I've been wearing the Fossil Q Explorist for the last several years. The Sport is an upgrade in the following ways: * It has a newer Qualcom 3100 processor, which is the latest available for Wear OS watches. It should be better performing and it might have better battery life * It is smaller, at 43 mm where as the Q Explorist is 45 mm * It has built-in GPS where as the Q Explorist relies on an Android phone for location tracking, which I use in Google Fit to track my walks * It has built in NFC for Google Pay. I am not sure how much I will use this * I think it has a better heart rate monitor, although this is also something I have not used much in the past

The Sport is the fifth generation Wear OS watch from Fossil, who is the prime Wear OS watch vendor. Given the significant price reduction I suspect that newer watches are coming from Fossil this spring. However, I note the overall feel and build quality is noticably "cheaper" than the Q Explorist and consequently this watch probably should have been priced at $99 from the beginning, certainly much less than the initial $250 retail price.

The Sport is much lighter than the Fossil Q Explorist and has a silcone band rather than the leather band I prefer. This will be the first time I will wear a silcone band.

The Sport comes in a variety of colors, I bought the gray/black model. The top casing is aluminum and underneath appears to be plastic, cheaper materials than the Q Explorist which has metal and glass but also much lighter, which makes sense for a watch targeted for fitness.
