I bought the Microsoft Surface 3 in May, 2015, not too long after it launched. The Surface 3 has a 10.5-inch screen and an ARM processor that runs a full version of Windows 10. It launched as the low cost version of the Surface hybrid tablet and is the predecessor to the Surface Go .
I've actually had two Surface 3 computers, the first one's screen failed and so I returned it to Microsoft for a replacement.
The main reason why I bought the Surface 3 was to use it to write notes in OneNote using the Surface Pen. For that purpose I found it worked very well and the fact that runs a full version of Windows means that it can function completely as my sole computer.
An under appreciated feature of the Surface hybrids is the built-in kick stand that makes it a very convenient portable video device. When I want to "lean back" and watch video with a portable device, I grab the Surface because of the kick stand.
Back in 2016 I wrote an essay about why I liked the Surface 3
I have replaced the Surface 3 with the iPad Pro 10.5 as my primary note taking and mobile computer because the iPad is faster and provides a better writing experience.
The Surface 3 now is my lone Windows 10 personal computer and it serves as a backup to the iPad should it be needed. I found a dock at an affordable price that I use to convert the Surface in to a desktop computer.
